Frankfurt Airport inaugurates Terminal 3 to expand capacity
Frankfurt Airport has officially inaugurated its new Terminal 3, marking one of the largest infrastructure projects in its history. The new terminal is designed to handle up to 19 million passengers per year in its first phase, significantly increasing the airport’s overall capacity.
Terminal 3 includes modern passenger facilities, new boarding gates and improved baggage handling systems, with a focus on efficiency and passenger comfort. It will initially be used by selected airlines, with further expansion phases planned in the coming years to accommodate future traffic growth.
The development also incorporates sustainability features, such as energy-efficient design and renewable energy, as part of Frankfurt Airport’s broader environmental strategy. The opening of Terminal 3 is expected to strengthen the airport’s role as a major European hub.
