Edinburgh Airport unveils £500 million investment programme
Edinburgh Airport has unveiled a £500 million investment programme over the next five years, the largest capital investment in the airport’s history. The programme will expand the terminal footprint by 60%, with new gates and aircraft stands, an expanded check-in hall and departure lounge, and upgraded international arrivals and baggage facilities.
The programme will also bring new and improved retail, food and beverage areas, while work on the South East Pier is already under way and is expected to open fully in summer 2027. Improvements across the wider airport campus will include additional electric vehicle infrastructure and a new access road.
The investment is intended to increase capacity and improve passenger flows while supporting the development of new short and long-haul routes connecting Scotland with international markets. The programme also includes opportunities for further low-carbon enhancements as part of Edinburgh Airport’s sustainability strategy.
