European airport duty-free sales hit record high of over €10 billion
European airport duty-free sales rose +5.5% year-on-year in 2025 to €10.13 billion according to the latest European Travel Retail Confederation (ETRC) Business Performance Index.
The Index highlights how Europe’s airports have increased sales in both value and volume, recording the highest annual sales volume ever for the sector. Whilst average spend per passenger declined by -0.3% to €10.55, unit sales climbed +4.5% year-on-year – showcasing resilient consumer demand despite uncertainty from the global geopolitical landscape.
Performance across all major segments delivered year-on-year growth, with tobacco and food & confectionery featuring double-digit growth.
