London Gatwick launches robotic parking service

London Gatwick has become the first airport in the United Kingdom to offer robotic valet parking. Passengers travelling from the South Terminal can now drive into a dedicated private cabin, scan their booking and walk away, keeping their keys, while autonomous robots handle the rest, lifting the vehicle by its tyres and moving it to a secure storage area.

The service, which builds on Stanley Robotics’ established operation at Lyon Airport, is available to book ahead of its first customer journeys this August. It is designed to enhance the passenger experience when driving to an airport whilst making more efficient use of existing parking space, as vehicles can be stored much closer together when no human access is required. Passengers can reach the terminal either on foot or via a free shuttle bus.
