Antalya Airport unveiled advanced ATC Tower system
Antalya Airport is set to enter a new era in air traffic management as Türkiye has launched the country’s first Advanced ATC Tower system integrated with the European air traffic network.
The system became operational on 18 May 2026 following extensive collaboration between the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMI) and EUROCONTROL.
The Advanced ATC Tower concept will enable Antalya Airport to transmit operational data to EUROCONTROL in real time, significantly enhancing coordination across the European aviation network. Critical information including pushback operations, taxiing, runway usage and departure sequencing will now be shared dynamically, allowing traffic management decisions to be based on live operational data rather than flight plans alone. Officials say the system will improve efficiency, reduce delays and strengthen cooperation between airlines and air traffic control units, particularly during Antalya’s busy summer tourism season.
The project also highlights Türkiye’s growing investment in national aviation technologies. Certification work is also underway at Ankara Esenboğa Airport and İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport, with both airports expected to adopt the Advanced ATC Tower system later this year.
