VINCI Airports advances plans for new Lisbon airport

VINCI Airports has reached a key milestone in the development of the new Luís de Camões Airport in Lisbon. On 16 July, its subsidiary ANA submitted the Engineering, Cost and Construction Report to Portugal’s Ministry of Infrastructure and Housing. The final Environmental Impact Assessment is expected to be submitted by the end of July, in line with the concession agreement.

The preliminary design covers the airport’s functional programme, operational capacity, multimodal connectivity and long-term infrastructure solutions. Once the reports have been assessed by the relevant authorities, the project will move into the detailed design and architectural phase. A multidisciplinary team of more than 250 engineers, specialists, technicians and environmental professionals is currently working on the project.

When completed, Luís de Camões Airport is planned to handle up to 56 million passengers per year. The project includes two runways, 120 aircraft stands, 194 self-service check-in kiosks and a passenger terminal of around 500,000 square metres, with connections to the future high-speed rail network, a third bridge over the Tagus and new road links. At the same time, VINCI Airports and ANA are continuing to invest in the modernisation of airports across Portugal.
