More European airports hit the highest decarbonisation standards under Airport Carbon Accreditation programme
ACI EUROPE has proudly announced a clutch of 12 more airports aligning their operations with the highest levels of decarbonisation standards to achieve Levels 4 and 4+ of the global Airport Carbon Accreditation programme.
With 9 airports in Portugal, Basel-Mulhouse airport in France/Switzerland, and Sweden’s Stockholm Arlanda and Goteborg Landvetter, this almost doubles the total number of early adopters globally since the new levels were introduced in 2020.
Levels 4 and 4+, representing the Transformation and Transition of operations, come with stringent requirements, encompassing alignment of an airport’s carbon management with the Paris Agreement and including significant emissions from third parties. Olivier Jankovec, Director General of ACI EUROPE, praised the airports as “catalysts for climate action across their entire sites”.
