Fraport Greece and CERTH launch five-year AI and robotics partnership

Fraport Greece and the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH) have signed a five-year strategic partnership to develop artificial intelligence, robotics and drone technologies across the 14 regional airports Fraport manages in Greece. The collaboration pairs Fraport Greece’s operational expertise with CERTH’s scientific capabilities, with the aim of building practical digital solutions tailored to the specific demands of airport environments.

Areas of focus include drone-enabled infrastructure inspections, AI-powered predictive maintenance for critical assets, and intelligent passenger flow optimisation. The partnership will also explore robotics applications for passenger assistance, autonomous logistics and security support, alongside broader digital tools to improve day-to-day operational efficiency.

The 14 airports covered by the agreement include major tourism gateways such as Rhodes, Corfu, Santorini and Mykonos, as well as Thessaloniki’s Makedonia Airport. More details are available in the joint announcement published by CERTH.
