Celebrating excellence: Entries now open for Best Airport Awards ’23 in Europe
ACI EUROPE has officially opened the submissions for the 2023 edition of the Best Airport Awards, recognising the outstanding achievements of airports across Europe. These prestigious accolades set the gold standards for airport excellence and celebrate the very best of the European airport industry.
The awards are divided into different categories, each recognising excellence in a specific area of airport management. One of the most highly coveted awards is the Best European Airport Award, which this year will focus on operational resilience and sustainability in the context of the ongoing COVID-19 recovery and in line with the airport industry-wide commitment to Net Zero CO2 emissions by 2050.
Airports competing for the Best European Airport Award will be considered in five different categories, based on their 2019 passenger traffic volumes. This approach ensures that all airports, regardless of their size, have a fair chance of winning.
In addition to the Best European Airport Award, there are several other awards that recognise airports’ efforts in specific areas of their activity. The Eco-Innovation Award, in partnership with Airport Carbon Accreditation, is presented to the airport that has demonstrated outstanding environmental performance and an innovative approach to environmental management. This award recognises airports that have made significant contributions to climate change mitigation, noise management, biodiversity and wildlife management, and circular economy.
The Digital Transformation Award, presented in partnership with SESAR 3 JU, recognises European airports that have embraced digitalisation and adopted innovative technologies and procedures to improve the safety, capacity, efficiency, and environmental footprint of their operations. This award celebrates airports that have successfully leveraged the power of technology to enhance the passenger experience and streamline their operations.
The Accessible Airport Award, presented in partnership with the European Disability Forum, recognises airports that provide accessible services to travelers and remove barriers that persons with disabilities still face when traveling by air. This award celebrates airports that have made significant efforts to create a more inclusive and accessible environment for all passengers.
Finally, the Human Resources Excellence Award recognises the crucial role played by human resources management in the strategic development of airports. This award celebrates airport HR departments that have implemented first-class practices and processes to develop the industry’s workforce. The 2023 edition of the award will focus on sustainability, with a particular emphasis on the social pillar.
The winners will be announced and celebrated at this year’s landmark ACI EUROPE / World Annual Congress and General Assembly in Barcelona on 27 June.
