ACI EUROPE expresses dismay at Dutch Government decision
The Dutch Government’s decision on June 24th to drastically reduce flight capacity at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport was met with dismay by ACI EUROPE.
On the publication of the Dutch ruling, which comes into force on in 2023 and sees a reduction of 11% against 2019 volumes, ACI EUROPE Director General Olivier Jankovec said: “In so many ways, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is what makes the Netherlands bigger than it is. From that standpoint, there is no doubt that the decision of the Government to significantly reduce the capacity of the airport will make the Netherlands smaller”.
The association emphasised the important role of AMS in air connectivity, both in direct and hub connectivity. The airport was only last week revealed to be ranking first in Europe in terms of direct connectivity, in the ACI EUROPE Airport Industry Connectivity Report 2022.
