VINCI Airports supports first electric aircraft tour between France and UK
VINCI Airports has taken a leading role in promoting low‑emission aviation by supporting the Elektro Tour, the first flight tour across France and the UK using a fully certified electric aircraft. The aircraft, a Pipistrel Velis Electro, completed the first‑ever electric crossing of the English Channel as part of the tour, which includes stops at nine airports in the VINCI network. The goal is to show how electric aviation can play a real part in the sector’s decarbonisation.
The tour is organised by a group of young pilots and engineers, aged 17 to 23, and is fully aligned with VINCI Airports’ wider environmental strategy. Since 2018, the company has already cut its own direct emissions by over 50 per cent and is now working to reduce them by another two-thirds by 2030. At the same time, VINCI is supporting progress on indirect emissions by encouraging the use of electric aircraft and greener technologies at its airports.
