VINCI Airports acquires a 20% stake in Budapest airport, becoming platform operator
VINCI Airports has acquired a 20% shareholding in the Budapest airport concession company, making them the airport operator.
Valued at €3.1 billion, VINCI Airports and Corvinus (an investment fund fully owned and managed by the Hungarian State) have taken on Budapest Airport on a pro rata basis and rolled over the existing debt of the company. Over a 55 year concession, Corvinus will own 80% and VINCI Airports 20%.
VINCI Airports, which have European operations in Portugal, the UK, France and Serbia, aims to manage Budapest Airport as the platform operator, and to improve the customer experience and support traffic growth through appropriate investment.
