TSA administrator removed from office following US elections
The head of the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA), David Pekoske, has been removed from office by US President Donald Trump.
Pekoske was initially confirmed by the US Senate during Trump’s first term in office, in 2017. Former US President Biden reconfirmed him for a second term in 2022, but will now be replaced by an unconfirmed replacement under the new administration.
Pekoske oversaw a workforce of 60,000 employees. Highlights of his time include steering the TSA through the Covid-19 pandemic, and supervising the introduction of new cybersecurity requirements, an innovation doctrine, and pay equity for the TSA workforce.
