Teesside International Airport submits plan for hydrogen refuelling station
Teesside International Airport has submitted plans to Darlington Borough Council for a hydrogen refuelling station as part of its goal to become operationally net zero by 2030. The project, funded by the UK Government, will provide hydrogen refuelling for airport vehicles, delivery trucks, vans, and other hydrogen-powered vehicles.
Teesside International Airport, which previously hosted a temporary hydrogen refuelling station, is advancing its green energy ambitions as part of its broader efforts to modernise and expand its operations. Airport Managing Director Phil Forster emphasized the airport’s commitment to pioneering clean energy, stating, ‘We’re all working very hard to make Teesside a modern airport pushing boundaries… this hydrogen refuelling station is another part of that push.’
The next step will be approval by Darlington Borough Council to finalise further development plans.
