SESAR JU’s PEACOCK project receives green light
The PEACOCK project, a new Digital Sky Demonstrator from SESAR Joint Undertaking, has received €1.5 million in funding from the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), as announced on 16 July. The Digital Sky Demonstrators are part of a broader strategy to accelerate the market adoption of new technological solutions necessary for achieving a Digital European Sky, with a strong emphasis on early movers and alignment with regulatory standards.
This initiative aims to support SESAR JU’s vision of creating a Digital European Sky by implementing a dashboard to analyse and quantify the environmental impact (both noise and emissions) of landing, taxiing and take-off operations at airports around Europe.
Over the next 36 months, PEACOCK aims to connect the Network Manager with 20 additional airports across Europe, including regional hubs in countries including Belgium, France, Romania, the Netherlands, Czechia, and Poland. The project will also implement a semi-automatic process to monitor turn-around milestones, improving the predictability of flight departure times. Additionally, it will facilitate the exchange of departure planning information and traffic flow data within the air traffic management network.
The PEACOCK consortium includes: Swedavia (coordinator), Aéroports de Paris, Brussels Airport, Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport, Eindhoven Airport, Fraport, Václav Havel Airport Prague, Wrocław Airport, Gdańsk Airport.
