“Search for Santa” takes off from Manchester Airport
Manchester Airport recently hosted its annual charity Search for Santa flight, taking more than 120 local children on a special festive journey. The event was operated in partnership with ChildFlight, a charity that provides flights and holidays for children in challenging circumstances, and TUI, offering young passengers a magical experience as they searched the skies for Father Christmas.
On the day of the flight, the aircraft departed from Manchester and flew over scenic landscapes that doubled as the North Pole, whilst volunteers and airport staff in costume entertained the children throughout the experience. Mid-flight theatrical elements added to the wonder, and on return to Manchester, the children were greeted by Santa himself, who shared gifts as part of the celebration.
The event is a long-standing tradition for the airport and a highlight of the year for many families and staff involved.
