ReFuelEU Aviation is now law

In a historic first, on 13 September the European Parliament voted in favour of the adoption of the ReFuelEU legislation, setting out the high-level expectations for use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel from flights within and departing the EU between 2025 and 2050.

ACI EUROPE, as part of the DESTINATION 2050 alliance comprising airports, airlines, civil aeronautics industry and air navigation service providers, welcomed the adoption of the legislation, at the same time calling for more support for the fledgling SAF industry in Europe. 

In addition, the alliance partners pointed to the necessity for global developments to follow suit, with the upcoming ICAO Conference on Aviation Alternative Fuels (CAAF/3) a clear beacon of hope. The Conference will be a unique opportunity to put in place the right milestones and to deliver ambitious targets for SAF deployment worldwide.
