Record interest in SESAR’s Digital European Sky 2025 call from the aviation community
Over 121 proposals were submitted to SESAR’s 2025 Digital European Sky (DES) calls: a record-breaking number of proposals for the largest call ever organised in the history of the SESAR Joint Undertaking (SESAR JU).
A total of €254 million in funding is available for proposals, with a high level of oversubscription. 82 proposals requested €113 million for exploratory research, nearly five times the indicative budget of €24 million, whilst 39 proposals requested €315 million for industrial research, approximately 1.4 times the indicative budget of €230 million. Such oversubscription represents a strong interest from the industry and stakeholders in the latest European ATM Master Plan, as well as SESAR’s role in driving innovation across aviation.
Evaluations of each proposal are now underway, with selected projects expected to be announced in early 2026.
