EU Clean Industrial Deal must include aviation – leading air transport organisations send an urgent plea to EU leaders

The European aviation industry allied under the DESTINATION 2050 banner has sent an open letter to the EU institutions and Member States urging them to prioritise aviation’s decarbonisation through a dedicated Industrial Strategy as part of the Clean Industrial Deal.

The open letter underlined that such a strategy should encompass key recommendations from the Draghi Report on the bloc’s competitiveness, which do highlight the urgent need to invest in Europe’s transport infrastructure and further strengthen connectivity.

The industry — represented by the DESTINATION 2050 partners, including all key parts of the aviation ecosystem — is also calling for a structured, high-level dialogue between the European Commission & Member States and the aviation industry to add further impetus to the efforts to decarbonise the sector in Europe.
