No more queuing at the border: Finland tests digital passports in world first at Helsinki Airport

Finnish Border Control confirms the reliability of Digital Travel Credentials (DTC), now allowing Finnish citizens flying from Helsinki to the UK to use their smartphones instead of physical passports.

Travellers on some flights with Finnair can now pass through border control using Digital Travel Credentials (DTC) rather than waiting in line for border control. DTC has been successfully introduced at Helsinki Airport, with volunteers required to register with the police, take a facial photo for recognition, and send data through the app before flights.

This pioneering trial aligns with EU efforts to enhance travel technology, potentially leading to broader digital passport adoption in the future.
