New paper maps potential avenues for fostering societal acceptance of Advanced Air Mobility
The latest instalment in the series of Discussion Papers on Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) was released in March. Going by the title “Winning over Society – Achieving Acceptance for AAM”, the paper focuses on the key topic of societal acceptance – something which is essential for the growth of AAM in our transport networks, and to attract passengers.
The paper proposes some actions to drive societal acceptance of Advanced Air Mobility, notably:
- An active debate at local, national and European level, not restricted to aviation professionals, on the benefits and implications of AAM on employment creation; city planning and intermodality; innovation and competitiveness; and revival of under- or unused infrastructure.
- Bring AAM to the people, through demonstrators, savvy media opportunities, and training of local government officials who may be dealing with aviation as part of urban and regional transport for the first time!
- Encourage industry collaboration through information and data-sharing on AAM’s operational performance and outcomes of demonstrators.
The paper contains further detail on the above, as well as case studies on the work done by Urban-Air Port and UrbanV to foster public acceptance of their AAM and vertiport projects.
