New ACI EUROPE white paper explores solutions to bridge multimodality gaps at European airports
ACI EUROPE’s latest white paper, Bridging Multimodal Gaps: Solutions for Improving Passenger Experience and Securing On-Time Arrivals, examines how improved multimodality can enhance passenger experience while supporting on-time arrivals and more sustainable mobility across Europe’s airports.
Multimodality is widely recognised as a key enabler of seamless travel and sustainability. However, the paper highlights that significant bottlenecks continue to hinder effective integration between air, rail, and other transport modes at many European airports.
In response, the white paper provides an overview of existing multimodal initiatives, assesses practical opportunities for improvement, and proposes a set of actionable, implementation-ready solutions.
The recommendations were developed by an Expert Group comprising more than 40 European airports of different sizes and operational profiles, and led by Dornier Group. The proposed measures aim to strike a balance between ambition and realism, offering scalable solutions that can be applied across diverse national and local contexts.
The paper aims to support airports, policymakers, and transport stakeholders in delivering smoother passenger journeys, stronger connectivity, and more resilient airport operations.
