Malmö Airport advances electric aviation with ES-30 aircraft testing

Malmö Airport is becoming vital in the quest for fossil-free aviation by collaborating with Heart Aerospace to test the ES-30 electric aircraft.

This effort is part of the larger ELISE 3 project, which has secured funding from Vinnova to bolster electric aviation efforts in Sweden.

Swedavia, in conjunction with industry partners like Heart Aerospace, Northvolt, BRA, and SAS, is actively championing the shift towards electric aircraft infrastructure. Through initiatives like MODELflyg and the development of electric aircraft charging stations, Swedavia is at the forefront of shaping the aviation industry’s energy transition.

The ES-30 ‑ envisioned to carry 30 passengers and powered by a rechargeable battery pack ‑ is anticipated to enter commercial service in 2028.
