London Luton Airport launches “LLA Launchpad” for local students
London Luton Airport has launched LLA Launchpad, a new initiative designed to introduce local students to careers in aviation. The programme welcomed 17 students from Barnfield College and Luton Sixth Form College, offering them direct exposure to the wide range of roles available at the airport.
The initiative is aimed at students based in Luton and is intended to act as a pipeline into the airport’s apprenticeship scheme. Participants developed key transferable skills such as professional behaviour, interview techniques and workplace confidence. By the end of the programme, almost 95% of students reported feeling more confident, while 75% said they were now considering a career in aviation.
LLA Launchpad forms part of the airport’s wider Classroom to Careers programme, which connects education with employment opportunities in the region. The initiative is supported by the Reach for the Sky Challenge Fund, a joint scheme between the UK Department for Transport and the Civil Aviation Authority to inspire the next generation of aviation professionals.
More details are available in London Luton Airport’s official press release.
