Hermes Airports announces two important projects for sustainable development
Hermes Airports is advancing sustainability through two significant projects.
The first project, to install Electric Ground Power Units (EGPUs) at both international airports in Cyprus, has received approval from the EU. This €3.6 million investment, financed through the “Connecting Europe Facility” programme, will enable aircraft to use electric power on the ground, reducing CO2 emissions and noise.
The second initiative sees Hermes Airports, as a member of the European consortium TULIPS, dedicating itself to developing innovative technologies for airport sustainability. Recently, the operator has renewed its offices following the principles of the circular economy, reusing construction materials. These actions align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations and aim to make Cyprus’s airports more environmentally-friendly.
