Helsinki Airport selected as one of the most beautiful airports in the world

The Finnish airport operated by Finavia has been recognised as one of the most aesthetically pleasing airports in the world by the prestigious Prix Versailles 2023.

Other European airports have also received this recognition: Manchester, Athens, Split, and Thessaloniki.

The Prix Versailles is an annual architecture competition that has now started to extend its reach to airports. The competition criteria include several factors such as innovation, creativity, respect for the local natural and cultural heritage in the design, and a commitment to eco-friendliness.

In 2022, Helsinki received the Prix Versailles for the interior design of its terminal, based on the principles of Finnishness and sustainability, using domestic materials, adopting energy-efficient solutions, and minimising the carbon footprint associated with construction.
