Forty tonnes of medical supplies flew from Ostend Bruges to Libya

A humanitarian flight has departed from Ostend-Bruges Airport en route to Benghazi in response to the devastating floods in Libya. This collaborative effort involving Egyptair Cargo, Skyline, UNICEF, Ostend-Bruges Airport, and Aviapartner is transporting over 40 tonnes of essential medical supplies to assist those affected by the floods.

These supplies are urgently needed to address shortages in local healthcare facilities.

Ostend-Bruges Airport has a track record of efficiently supporting humanitarian missions, including aid to Turkey following earthquakes earlier this year and a central role in aid missions to Haiti in late 2022. In 2021, the airport also delivered oxygen tanks to India during the COVID-19 crisis.
