eVTOL takes off in Northern Italy: SEA Milan Airports, Lilium and Skyports partner for air mobility network
SEA Milan Airports, Lilium, and Skyports have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, announcing a partnership to develop a regional air mobility network in Lombardy, using electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.
The goal is to establish a network of vertiports by 2027, connecting key locations like Milan Malpensa Airport and the city centre.
SEA Milan Airports will be the majority shareholder and contribute its expertise in airport management. Skyports will provide its knowledge of vertiport infrastructure, while Lilium will offer its innovative Lilium Jet.
This project aims to improve connectivity in the region by providing faster, more efficient, and low-emission travel options that integrate with existing transportation solutions. The initiative is supported by collaboration with ENAC, the Italian Civil Aviation Authority, which recently published a national regulation for VTOL aircraft.
