European Commission seeks input on the future of Europe’s drone ecosystem

The European Commission has launched two consultations as part of the progress review of the Drone Strategy 2.0, inviting citizens and industry stakeholders to share their views on the development of Europe’s drone sector.

Adopted in 2022, the Strategy set out a vision for a safe, innovative and competitive European drone ecosystem. The review will assess progress made since its adoption and consider how evolving technologies, market developments and new policy challenges may shape the sector’s future.

Citizens are invited to share their views on the benefits, concerns and expectations surrounding drone use, while professionals across the drone ecosystem – including airports, manufacturers, operators, service providers, investors and public authorities  –  are encouraged to provide technical and market perspectives.

The feedback collected will support the European Commission’s assessment and help guide future policy development for drones and emerging technologies such as electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.

The consultations are open until 6 September 2026.
