European Airports show support for Ukraine on Independence Day
On 24 August, Ukrainian Independence Day, 20 European airports showed their support for Ukraine by highlighting Ukrainians’ gratitude.
The Ukrainian Institute launched “The Smallest Support” campaign to express Ukraine’s gratitude for European support. This campaign shows that even simple actions, such as kind words, social media posts, or Ukrainian flags, can significantly impact and are of great value to Ukrainians. European airports used their digital screens to display messages of solidarity from European citizens and corresponding thank-you notes from Ukrainians.
Alongside the campaign, an exhibition at Madrid-Barajas Adolfo Suarez Airport highlights the story of a Spaniard whose post in support of Ukraine triggered a wave of support across Europe. The exhibition can be visited until 31 August in Terminal 2.
ACI EUROPE’s Director General Olivier Jankovec and President Armando Brunini visited Kyiv in February to meet with Ukrainian members, their government, and relevant authorities to advocate for the necessary support. ACI EUROPE will continue supporting their Ukrainian members and highlighting the importance of re-establishing operational readiness for Ukraine’s airports.
