EUROCONTROL advances on innovation in U-space and air traffic management with new Technical Cooperation Agreement
EUROCONTROL has signed a Technical Cooperation Agreement (TCA) with Distretto Tecnologico Aerospaziale (DTA), a non-profit consortium focused on drone innovation. The TCA will strengthen collaboration on U-space, UAS Traffic Management (UTM), High-Altitude Operations (HAO) and aviation innovation.
This enhanced partnership will foster structured cooperation between EUROCONTROL and DTA, leveraging the strengths of both partners by combining EUROCONTROL’s pan-European coordination and technical leadership with DTA’s dynamic ecosystem of stakeholders and test infrastructures.
The partnership aims to cover the following key areas:
- Advancing U-space and Unmanned Aircraft System Traffic Management (UTM) integration into the wider ATMF system to enable safe, efficient drone operations.
- Leveraging DTA’s testbeds to validate cutting-edge technologies, operational concepts, and U-space solutions in real-world conditions.
- Promoting High-Altitude Operations (HAO) and Innovative Air Mobility (IAM) as drivers of future air transport – with a focus on safety, scalability and sustainability.
- Driving cross-sector innovation by utilising a wide range of stakeholders to co-develop solutions for emerging ATM challenges.
- Develop internships, trainings and expert exchanges to foster the next generation of aviation talent.
- Strengthen cooperation with the SESAR framework by linking DTA’s local testbed results to pan-European initiatives.
