EU Entry Exit System roll out postponed until after summer 2023
Aviation industry represented by the leading industry associations, ACI EUROPE, A4E, ERA and IATA welcomed the decision to postpone the implementation of the EU’s new smart border system for non-EU nationals, the Entry Exit System (EES).
While the aviation industry remains fully committed to working with the EU and national authorities to make the EES implementation a success, a number of key issues remain unresolved. The associations listed the key parameters needed for a smooth roll out in a joint statement.
Postponing the implementation until after the busy 2023 summer period will give airlines, airports, EU and national authorities the opportunity to clear these issues and ensure the system is fully tested.
