EASA offers first ever U-space service provider certification
The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has issued its first ever U-space service provider certificate, in a historic milestone for unmanned aircraft systems – or drones – in Europe.
U-space refers to specific airspace zones where drone operations are enabled through advanced digital and automated services. These services, provided by certified USSPs, aim to ensure secure, efficient, and high-volume drone traffic management.
ANRA Technologies received the certification after a stringent evaluation process over almost two years, including detailed assessments of safety, cybersecurity, operational readiness, business continuity, U-space service provision, and compliance frameworks. With the certificate, ANRA now have the privilege of providing four mandatory U-space services in the U-space airspace: network identification, geo-awareness, flight authorisation and traffic information.
This certification paves the way for harmonised, scalable, and safe unmanned aircraft system (UAS) operations, supporting the goals of the European Union’s Drone Strategy 2.0.
