EASA briefing note provides reference prices for Sustainable Aviation Fuel in Europe

A new briefing note from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) provides key reference prices for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and other relevant aviation fuels within the European Union.

The briefing note provides the average prices in 2024 for the aviation fuels eligible under the ReFuelEU Aviation Regulation, as well as comparable conventional aviation fuels. As a result, the briefing note serves as a frame of reference for EU member states to determine penalties under the ReFuelEU Aviation Regulation and for the SAF support mechanism under the EU Emissions Trading Scheme Directive (EU ETS).

In September 2025, EASA will publish their first ever technical report on the status of compliance of the parties obligated under the ReFuelEU Aviation Regulation, as well as the state and development of the SAF market in the EU and its Member States – with this briefing note serving as a pre-publication on which this work will be based.
