EASA and EUROCONTROL sign Memorandum of Cooperation for increased aviation sustainability and safety
EASA and EUROCONTROL have signed a joint commitment (Memorandum of Cooperation) to increased collaboration on a range of civil aviation topics, including safety, efficiency, and sustainability. The overall goal of the agreement is to ensure the European aviation safety system operates as effectively as possible.
EASA and EUROCONTROL have a history of close collaboration, including through their Joint Work Programme and the EASA-EUROCONTROL Technical & Coordination Office. They work closely on the areas of aviation sustainability, European air traffic management (ATM) and air navigation services (ANS), and production/analysis of ATM/ANS rules.
This Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) replaces the existing one signed in 2021, and reinforces their current partnership and expands on their covered activities in the following areas:
- Training courses will be developed and delivered by EUROCONTROL to ensure an effective implementation of EASA rules
- Information will be exchanged between the two parties regarding cyber-events and incidents that impact aviation safety, including new technologies and influences
- Joint research and innovation activities will be designed regarding safety and sustainability
- Cooperation on Communication, Navigation and Surveillance (CNS) with the aim of modernising Europe’s CNS infrastructure
