Data is king – regular insights into Airport Performance now available
The Airport Performance Network – Europe (APN – Europe) brings together over 40 ACI EUROPE member airports to discuss issues linked to punctuality and performance management. The insights gathered by the group through their work to increase airport performance (particularly delay and turnaround management) are now available in a structured format of monthly Punctuality Reports, available on the ACI EUROPE website.
The process of drawing out these Reports wouldn’t be possible without the help of EUROCONTROL. The 28 airports involved submit their operational data to the Network Manager on a monthly basis. Next, their performance data is compiled in cooperation with EUROCONTROL’s Performance Review Unit and Central Office for Delay Analysis and fed into standardised dashboards included in the final reporting. The punctuality reports display average departure and arrival punctuality across the participating airports, as well as for each individual airport versus the APN-Europe average and each airport’s average delay per flight (grouped by airport size).
Standardising the reporting of airport punctuality data is only one of the tasks the Airport Performance Network set out to achieve. The group was established in 2009 with the objective of information exchange, development of best practices and contributing to industry-wide initiatives concerning operational performance and predictability at European airports. Upcoming work will cover A-CDM, innovation and cross-industry knowledge sharing, and collaboration with EUROCONTROL initiatives such as on Target Time of Arrival and AOP-NOP exchange.
