daa reveals a 20-point plan to accelerate environmental sustainability ambitions at Dublin and Cork airports
daa, Dublin and Cork airports’ operator, has announced 20 initiatives to promote environmental sustainability at both hubs. These initiatives aim to accelerate the company’s efforts to achieve its climate and sustainability goals, including reaching net zero emissions by 2050.
The company plans to invest more than €400 million in these projects, making Dublin Airport one of the most eco-friendly airports in Europe.
The commitment of daa is also extended to working with airlines and other companies in the aviation sector to reduce the environmental impact of their operations.
As part of their initiatives, the Irish operator aims to reduce carbon emissions from airside vehicles by 90% by switching from diesel to Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO). The group is also exploring on-site solar energy options, ground fleet electrification, and participation in government task forces on Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) and Hydrogen to accelerate these alternative fuel sources.
