Cologne Bonn Airport transitions its ground fleet to Neste MY Renewable Diesel

Cologne Bonn Airport has made a significant change by adopting Neste MY Renewable Diesel™ for its ground fleet. This switch will reduce up to 90% in emissions compared to fossil diesel (almost 3,000 tons of emissions per year). Cologne Bonn is the only airport in Germany offering Neste’s sustainable aviation fuel (SAF)  to airlines, while at the same time using Neste MY Renewable Diesel for its own diesel-powered ground fleet.

Neste’s renewable diesel is made from 100% renewable raw materials (also known as HVO100), and it is in particular beneficial when used to power large and heavy vehicles, such as fire engines. Due to their weight, they are not easily electrified, whereas the use of sustainable fuels in their tanks provides immediate decarbonisation.In addition, the switch to Neste MY Renewable Diesel did not require any vehicle modifications as it is a seamless replacement.
