CEF 2 Transport Call for Proposals aims to modernise transport infrastructure
The European Commission has launched the 2024 CEF 2 Transport Call for Proposals, with a total budget of €2.5 billion. The funding aim is to build and modernise transport infrastructure in the EU and the CEF associated countries of Ukraine and Moldova. Over €640 million is specifically dedicated to smart and interoperable mobility, including aviation, and covers SESAR Common Project One Implementation projects.
This presents a significant opportunity for SESAR Deployment stakeholders to access EU co-funding for Air Traffic Management (ATM) modernisation. SESAR Deployment Manager (SDM) is ready to support stakeholders with two key objectives: implementing Common Project One (Regulation (EU) 2021/116) and modernising Communication, Navigation, and Surveillance infrastructure.
On 2nd October 2024, SDM will hold an online and in-person launch event to provide more detailed information on the process, timeline, and all mandatory documentations to be submitted – as well as how SDM can support stakeholders.
The call also contains provisions for a series of SESAR JU Digital European Sky Demonstrators in the areas of automation, virtualisation and support for the Green Deal. Proposals can address a number of SESAR-related topics, including alerts for reductions of collision risks on taxis and runways, optimising airport and TMA environmental footprint, dynamic airspace configuration, increased automation support, and more.
