Brussels Airport inaugurates new Brucargo Central facility
Brussels Airport has officially opened Brucargo Central, a €70 million logistics hub that replaces eight older cargo buildings with three modern, high-performance facilities. The new development adds 83,500 m2 of space, increasing the airport’s total cargo storage capacity by about 30%.
The complex includes 34,000 m2 of warehouse and office space, as well as 10,000 m2 of temperature-controlled storage. This brings total cold chain capacity at the airport to 45,000 m2, supporting high-demand sectors such as pharmaceuticals, food, and e-commerce.
Designed with sustainability in mind, Brucargo Central was built in accordance with circular economy principles. The site features wooden structural elements, solar panels, geothermal heating and cooling, and a 20% reduction in paved surfaces to improve mobility and biodiversity.
