Boeing names new CEO in aerospace veteran Kelly Ortberg
Boeing has appointed aerospace veteran Kelly Ortberg as its new CEO, effective 8 August 2024. A mechanical engineer, Ortberg, 64, has more than 30 years of experience in aerospace and defence, including numerous executive roles.
The company reported a $1.4 billion loss for the second quarter of 2024, falling short of revenue expectations. Ortberg’s immediate priorities will include restoring production levels of the 737 jets to meet demand. He will also focus on integrating Spirit AeroSystems – fuselage makers – into Boeing’s operations, a move aimed at stabilising the company’s production capabilities.
