Ankara Airport opens its third runway
A new air traffic control tower and a third runway have now opened at Ankara Esenboğa Airport.
The project, implemented with an investment of €298 million, will increase the airport’s capacity by at least 10 million passengers – a necessary increase, as passenger traffic grew by 7% in 2025, with 356 destinations in 133 countries.
Additionally, Turkish President Erdoğan – in attendance at the inauguration ceremony – announced that construction of a new cargo apron with parking for six aircraft has been completed.
In the coming years, Esenboğa Airport’s terminal building will be expanded by at least 40,000m2, with an additional 58,000m2 of apron space and 18,000m2 of connecting taxiway.
‘We have implemented yet another one of the most successful examples of the public-private partnership model,’ stated Erdoğan.
