Airbus, Avinor, SAS, Swedavia, and Vattenfall collaborate to promote hydrogen aviation in Sweden and Norway
Airbus, Avinor, SAS, Swedavia, and Vattenfall have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to explore the possibility of developing hydrogen-powered aircraft infrastructure at airports in Norway and Sweden. The objective of this collaboration is to establish a plan for the deployment of hydrogen-fuelled flights in both countries.
The cooperation will explore hydrogen aircraft concepts, operations, regulatory needs, infrastructure, supply, fuel storage, and airport refuelling in order to help develop the hydrogen aviation ecosystem..
This feasibility study is the first of its kind, covering over 50 airports across two countries. It shows the shared ambition of the partners to use their respective expertise to enable the decarbonisation of aviation and achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
