Aeroporti di Roma, ITA Airways, and Trenitalia launch intermodal travel experience
Aeroporti di Roma, ITA Airways and Trenitalia have entered into a partnership to offer travellers an intermodal travel experience, that combines train and aeroplane journeys, providing enhanced convenience and sustainability. Passengers now have the option to purchase combined train and aeroplane tickets through ITA Airways’ digital platforms and authorised agencies. Additionally, they can check in for their flights at dedicated counters located at Fiumicino’s Leonardo da Vinci International Airport railway station.
Passengers travelling on Frecciarossa and Leonardo Express trains to Roma Termini can seamlessly connect to ITA Airways’ international and intercontinental flights, excluding those to the USA and Israel. They have the convenience of dropping off their baggage at Fiumicino station and collecting it at their final destination, which will be serviced by ITA Airways.
This collaboration between Aeroporti di Roma and Ferrovie dello Stato Group aims to develop integrated “train + plane” products, enhancing connections between major stations, airports, and ports throughout Italy. ITA Airways has also reached an agreement with Ferrovie dello Stato to create multimodal air-rail services and improve the overall travel experience through shared digital platforms.
