Aeroporti di Roma hosts first Annual Congress of the Pact for the Decarbonisation of Air Transport
On the 21st of September, the Italian aviation industry gathered in Rome-Fiumicino Airport, including industrial players, institutional stakeholders, associations and representatives of the academic world, to attend the first Annual Congress dedicated to the Pact for Decarbonisation of Air Transport. The event took place under the patronage of the Italian Ministry for Ecological Transition, the Ministry for Sustainable Infrastructures and Mobility and Enac, the Italian Civil Aviation Authority.
During the Congress, the Energy & Strategy Group of the Politecnico di Milano presented a study demonstrating that the implementation of multiple strategies oriented towards deployment of bio‑fuels and supported by policy-makers would make the complete decarbonisation of the aviation sector by 2050 possible.
The Pact for the Decarbonisation of Air Transport was created in April 2021 to make the evolution of connectivity and productivity more sustainable on a global scale. The Pact recognises the central role of aviation in social and economic development and charts the way forward for its sustainable future.
