Aeroporti di Roma and Eni bring “The Pact for the Decarbonisation of Air Transport” at COP28
During the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) in Dubai, UAE, Aeroporti di Roma and Eni organised a side event called “The Pact for Decarbonisation of Air Transport: the Italian Ecosystem for a Roadmap to Net‑Zero” at the Italian Pavillion.
The Italian Ministry of Environment and Energetic Security has selected the Pact as an international best practice to address the decarbonisation challenge; therefore, a perfect example to be brought at COP28.
To achieve net-zero objectives, the Pact encourages investments to reduce emissions, such as Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), researching new technologies for aircraft propulsion, and developing intermodality. It currently includes around thirty representatives of Italian institutions, companies, and associations of national and international relevance, representing the solutions adopted until now to achieve net-zero objectives in the aviation industry.
One of the key factors discussed in the continuous dialogue between the private sector and institutions is the need to define a stable regulatory framework with a multi-year horizon. This regulatory framework is essential to safeguard the competitiveness of the aviation sector, which is critical for the country’s economic development.
