ACI EUROPE welcomes Draghi Report’s focus on sustainable transport infrastructure
ACI EUROPE endorsed the newly released Draghi report on ‘The future of European Competitiveness’, which prominently placed transport infrastructure back on the agenda with a clear commitment to sustainability. This report is pivotal in aligning our infrastructure strategies with Europe’s environmental and economic goals.
The Draghi Report outlines several key priorities, including enhancing green infrastructure, adopting innovative technologies, and shifting towards low-emission transport modes. These priorities resonate strongly with ACI EUROPE’s vision of a more sustainable and efficient transport network.
Europe’s airports particularly welcomed the report’s emphasis on integrating environmental considerations into transport planning, for a more holistic approach. This aligns with our ongoing efforts to advocate for infrastructure investments that reinforce connectivity and support Europe’s broader climate objectives – without jeopardising the social and economic benefits of increased air connectivity.
As we move forward, ACI EUROPE looks forward to collaborating with stakeholders to ensure that the priorities outlined in the Draghi Report are effectively implemented, including with newly selected Commissioner designate Apostolos Tzitzikostas. By doing so, we aim to contribute to a transport infrastructure that promotes economic growth, while protecting the environment.
