ACI EUROPE launches a Guide to promoting destinations
On 10 October 2024, ACI EUROPE launched the “Promoting Destination” guide; a comprehensive guidance document for enhancing collaboration between regional airports, Destination Marketing Organisations (DMOs), and National Tourism Organisations (NTOs) to increase visibility and attractiveness of destinations.
The guide addresses the need for regional airports to strategically collaborate with relevant stakeholders in the aviation industry and beyond in order to ensure their sustainable growth and competitiveness. The guide provides practical recommendations, checklists, and strategies for implementing destination promotion effectively and sustainably – from marketing campaigns to information centres and destination branding.
Envisioning a future where strategic partnerships and a steadfast commitment to sustainability drive the success of European destinations, the guide also provides a range of case studies showcasing successful collaborations. Exciting and unique campaigns from Aena, Bologna, Chania, Cork, Memmingen, Nice Cote D’Azur, Nuremberg, Shannon and Stuttgart Airports are featured – from ‘Cinema under the stars’ film viewings to tasting events showcasing regional cuisine.
With a key focus on sustainability, the guide encourages airports and tourism organisations to adopt environmentally friendly practices, promote sustainable transport options, and engage with local communities to ensure the long-term preservation of cultural and natural resources.
“At ACI EUROPE, we are dedicated to supporting our regional members in navigating the multifaceted challenges of modern travel, ensuring sustainable growth, and competitive air connectivity for Europe’s destinations,’ states Olivier Jankovec, Director-General of ACI EUROPE.
“By working together with a vast body of stakeholders, we can create vibrant, attractive regions that thrive economically while preserving their unique social, cultural, and national heritage.”
