ACI EUROPE addresses key challenges for Moldovan aviation
Olivier Jankovec, Director General of ACI EUROPE, visited Chisinau at the beginning of the month to address Moldovan aviation’s challenges.
During his trip, Jankovec held key discussions with Andrei Spînu, Moldova’s Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, focusing on issues such as infrastructure constraints, regulatory hurdles, and the need for modernisation.
The conflict between Russia and Ukraine brought significant challenges for Chisinau International Airport, which had historically primarily relied on these markets. The demise of Air Moldova last year only added to these challenges. Yet, the airport has managed to diversify its route network, attracting new airlines and expanding traffic from incumbent ones.
This visit underlined ACI EUROPE’s commitment to advocating for Moldova’s aviation industry through improving airport infrastructure, streamlining regulations, and aligning with European standards. This collaboration aims to unlock Moldova’s aviation potential and bolster its integration into the broader European network.
