A successful year for SESAR Deployment Manager
On 20 November, the SESAR Deployment Manager (SDM) hosted its Annual Meeting in Brussels, alongside the launch of the EU’s CEF2 2024 Transport Call, which supports Air Traffic Management (ATM) modernisation through European funding. The event brought together implementing partners to review progress under Common Project One (CP1): the first set of mandatory SESAR ATM solutions aimed at improving capacity, efficiency, safety, and environmental performance.
The SDM is the organisation responsible for coordinating the implementation of Europe’s ATM modernisation programme. Working with airports, air navigation service providers (ANSPs), airlines and industry partners, SDM ensures that agreed SESAR solutions are deployed in a synchronised and effective way across Europe.
SDM experts presented updates on project delivery, performance benefits, reporting and financial management. By November 2025, 323 of 359 CP1 implementation projects had been successfully completed, demonstrating strong progress and delivering measurable improvements in airspace capacity and operational performance. Representatives from the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) shared lessons learned from EU-funded projects, whilst airports and ANSPs provided practical examples of how SESAR deployment is improving day-to-day operations.
The meeting concluded with the launch of the CEF2 2024 Transport Call, focused on accelerating Initial Trajectory Information Sharing – setting the scene for a successful and productive 2026.
